Job Description

Ent is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our cross-functional platform team. In this role, you will take ownership of managing the deployment pipeline and ensuring the safe and secure delivery of software to our cloud environment. Your efforts will empower the development team to focus on building innovative features that drive value for our members. You'll collaborate closely with teams across Network Operations, Application Security, Security Operations, and fellow engineers to solve complex challenges, optimize system performance, and ensure high availability. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes, and a passion for solving impactful technical problems in a growing organization.

Essential Functions

  • Strategic Cloud / Automation & Guidance: Lead the enterprise data center modernization initiative by researching, designing, and implementing an Azure cloud infrastructure that supports global business applications and operations. Drive the development of processes and best practices for migrating workloads to Azure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Design cutting-edge, cloud-native technical solutions on Azure that meet performance, security, and availability requirements. Provide architectural guidance and oversee the implementation of new cloud services, following industry best practices. Assist in the planning and execution of migrating legacy applications to Azure, optimizing for cloud environments. Serve as a subject matter expert on Azure cloud services, offering guidance and support to team members on complex cloud-related questions.
  • Tactical Cloud Support / Maintenance Activities: Provision, configure, and automate enterprise cloud services on Azure to ensure consistent and reliable operations. Utilize automation tools to enforce continuous compliance with operational and security standards across cloud environments. Perform operational architecture tasks, including platform upgrades, server patching, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting. Provide periodic off-hours on-call support for production and development environments, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolutions. Oversee security logging, monitoring, and alert triage; actively participate in security incident response and investigation.
  • Enable Cloud Development / Automation: Design and implement automated pipelines (primarily in Azure DevOps) to streamline the deployment of code and infrastructure into Azure environments. Lead the training of developer teams on best practices for utilizing deployment pipelines, cloud environments, and local Kubernetes development. Mentor and guide other DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends to identify new tools and platforms that align with the future needs of development teams and their feature roadmaps.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Architecting, or related technical field preferred
  • 8+ years' of overall technical IT experience, including substantial expertise in the following areas:
  • 6+ years' of experience in a DevOps role, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure, automation, and deployment pipelines and a demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive improvements across cross-functional teams.


Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of account experience could be substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of work experience.


Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of cloud security
  • Knowledge of Azure identity and access management
  • Able to maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills used in developing strong working relationships and effective listening skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Knowledge of utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in a cloud environment
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools, preferably Azure DevOps and/or GitHub
  • Knowledge of Git source control
  • Knowledge of working on a Scrum/Kanban team
  • Team player that fully embraces the DevOps culture, eliminating barriers and bridging moats
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in deploying and managing a wide range of Azure PaaS and IaaS services, with hands-on experience in scaling, troubleshooting, and optimizing cloud-native applications.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive cloud security strategies, including data encryption, secure access management, and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing, implementing, and managing multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments, integrating Azure with other cloud platforms and on-premises solutions to meet business needs.
  • Strong ability to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes using advanced tools like Terraform, Ansible, and ARM templates to ensure repeatability and scalability of cloud services.
  • Deep knowledge of designing applications with high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability in cloud environments. Skilled at implementing disaster recovery plans and backup strategies using Azure-native tools.
  • Expertise in integrating and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines using advanced tools, incorporating testing, deployment automation, and security scanning to ensure rapid, reliable software delivery.
  • Advanced understanding of Azure networking capabilities, including Virtual Networks, VPNs, ExpressRoute, and Network Security Groups, as well as the integration of these technologies into hybrid cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, while also leading technical initiatives that drive best practices and DevOps culture within the organization.
  • Deep experience in designing and managing containerized applications using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm, with the ability to implement advanced orchestration strategies for production-grade environments.
  • Ability to write advanced, modular scripts in PowerShell, Python, and other languages, to automate complex infrastructure tasks and workflows, driving operational efficiency.
  • Skilled at identifying and resolving complex, high-impact issues in production environments. Takes a leadership role in post-incident reviews, driving improvements in processes and tooling to prevent future issues.
  • Actively involved in mentoring team members and fostering knowledge-sharing through internal workshops, documentation, and guiding teams in adopting new tools, processes, and technologies.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing cloud-native applications, including microservices architectures, using best practices for scalability, resiliency, and seamless integration with Azure services.
  • (preferred) Network knowledge.
  • (preferred) Knowledge of tools such as HELM, Ansible, Terraform
  • (preferred) Kubernetes/Docker knowledge


Certifications Required:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Developer Associate, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert preferred

Additional Information

The pay range for this position is: $171,891 to $225,607 per Year (ASD)

Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, and internal pay equity.

This position is eligible for our corporate bonus program based on company performance.
