Cox Enterprises is hiring an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Compliance Director to join our team! As the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Compliance Director, you will support two main areas of the Assurance & Advisory Services Organization.
- ERM: Support achievement of strategic goals and business objectives by enabling a collaborative risk management environment that proactively identifies, mitigates, and monitors risk. Facilitate the delivery of high-quality, relevant, and actionable risk information to stakeholders. Assist in the achievement of goals for the CEI ERM program:
- Embed risk management practices into CEI's culture
- Define accountability for risk management activities
- Enable informed risk management decision-making on an enterprise-wide basis
- Ensure ongoing risk monitoring and risk reporting
- Drive consistency and alignment across all Cox divisions
- Compliance: Work closely with leadership to ensure business checks and controls are in place to truly safeguard the company. Support the legal compliance teams and other groups in key compliance areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions for ERM
Assist leadership in enhancing existing ERM program. Experienced contributor responsible for the day-to-day activities needed to support the program. Expected to build partnerships with key stakeholders across Cox Enterprises and the operating divisions (CCI and CAI).
- Maintain risk universe and lead annual risk assessment
- Drive consistent risk categorization, treatment, and communication across all divisions
- Monitor external risk landscape
- Evaluate key risks related to Impact, Likelihood, and Management Preparedness
- Identify risk owners for key risks and partner to build action items/accountability
- Establish CEI risk appetite and tolerance in partnership with the working group and steering committee
- Formalize risk reporting/dashboard in alignment with divisional ERM teams
- Facilitate CEI Working Group meetings as well as quarterly CEI Steering Committee meetings
- Build relationships with key leaders across all divisions
- Coordinate with CAI and CCI ERM teams
- Develop ERM Roadmap - better integration with the business, alignment to the budget process, etc.
- Evaluate technology enablement
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Compliance:
As our compliance auditor, you are directly responsible for protecting company assets through regular auditing. You will ensure a safe working environment and client product consumption by assessing compliance with internal control measures and local, state, federal, and company regulations. As you see fit, you should recommend improvements to the company's infrastructure regarding internal control and oversee the work of coworkers.
- Manage auditing staff, including training, orientation, task assignment, task scheduling, and daily procedural guidance.
- Adhere to quality, production, and customer service expectations.
- Identify and resolve operational issues with improvements in the work process.
- Maintain a real-time understanding of the cost/benefit exchange, monitor expenses, and apply cost-saving methods when necessary.
- Develop an auditing plan based on thorough research.
- Analyze operational practice, periodic reports, databases, records, and other forms of documentation to ensure compliance with established company and governmental regulations.
- Verify accurate liabilities and assets through item comparison in the relevant documentation.
- Document findings of tests and audits in work papers and memos and distribute them to relevant supervisors and department heads upon completion.
- Seek to expand job knowledge through various company- sponsored educational and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- A Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience; a Master's degree and 8 years of experience; or a Ph.D. and 5 years of experience is required. In lieu of a degree, 14 years of experience will be considered.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization.
- Candidate must have good relationship skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (including the ability to make presentations to a variety of levels, including executive leadership).
- Ability to analyze complex information and prepare associated deliverables.
- Critical decision-making is required for project focus, approach, recommendations, and communications.
- Good project management skills are required to complete multiple projects and accomplish the annual plan.
- Proven track record of successfully collaborating with management on financial and operational issues to influence improvements to control the environment and/or increase efficiency
- Solid business process and risk acumen.
- Demonstrated experience with discretion and diplomacy; respectful of confidential information and data; high integrity.
- Thriving on new challenges, adapting quickly to learn new knowledge, and demonstrating a drive for collaborative results.
