Entry-Level Transportation Planner / Urban Designer

Halff, is seeking to immediately hire an entry-level Planner / Urban Designer for their Houston, Texas office. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of planners, engineers, landscape architects, and other support experts on a wide variety of planning efforts with public and private entities ranging from comprehensive plan preparation; mobility, park, recreation, and trails planning; active transportation planning; downtown and corridor planning; and urban design efforts.

The responsibilities of this position will include support of senior staff projects, public engagement, plan development, report writing and document production, and assisting with the preparation of computer generated maps and graphic elements needed to convey the ideas generated in each planning effort.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in community/urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or a closely related field; advanced degree a plus;
0 to 3 years of experience in a planning capacity; project management a plus;
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and highly motivated;
Strong technical writing skills;
Working knowledge of computer programs (ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office programs) and the ability to produce attractive maps, infographics, and documents; and,
Ability to travel periodically to client jurisdictions.

Desired:

Experience in both the public and private sector
Transportation specific planning experience
AICP and/or other certifications/registrations from our allied professions (PLA, AIA, CNU-A, LEED AP, etc.).
