SECTOR OVERVIEW
Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil - gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.
TRC is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Scientist/Environmental Geologist Intern to join our New Providence, New Jersey Engineering, Construction, and Remediation team as a paid intern with the potential for permanent full-time employment after a three-month paid internship period. This position would be part of a very skilled team that works closely with Project Managers and other technical leads providing technical support for site investigation, due diligence, groundwater monitoring, remediation, and regulatory compliance projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and personable individual with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a growing and high performing team.
Our Junior Environmental Geologists/Environmental Scientist Interns:
- Support environmental compliance and remediation related projects in the field and office.
- Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support, etc.
- Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation.
- Perform a variety of field work including environmental assessments, environmental investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, site inspections, and subcontractor oversight.
- Support management of medium-to-large, complex tasks to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
- Assist during proposal development including preparation of work scopes and budgets.
- Limited travel regionally and state-wide on short and long-term assignments.
- Must have an acceptable driving record and ability to drive their own vehicle or company vehicle to work sites.
- This is a full-time, paid intern position.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, or Geology from an accredited university.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent attitude and ability to work well within a team environment.
- Excellent writing/verbal communication skills for interaction with multi-disciplinary staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability (with training) to perform and manage field work (construction oversight, drilling oversight, soil/groundwater sampling, etc.).
- Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, detail orientated person.
- Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the basic qualifications the qualifications below are highly desired but not required:
- 0-1 year or Internship experience in the field of environmental compliance/remediation consulting.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate (with an up-to-date 8-hr annual refresher course certification).
- Knowledge of environmental regulations (NJDEP).
- Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCad, MathCad, ESRI, HydroCad, WaterCad, ARCView GIS, etc.)
