Reporting: Director of Environmental Commodities Trading

Your Opportunity:

The Environmental Commodity Trading and Supply Analyst will support senior environmental commodity traders in the management of Just Energy’s REC and Carbon RPS and voluntary portfolios, including its terrapass brand.

Your key accountabilities:

• Assist senior traders in developing and executing hedging strategies and optimizing inventory
• Research, analyze, and create reports on renewable energy credit (REC) and carbon markets
• Track legislation and regulation changes related to REC and carbon markets
• Manage daily desk operations related to position tracking, price updating, and retirement and transfer processes
• Coordinate with various departments, including Risk, Operations, and Finance to address issues related to REC and Carbon transactions
• Support the development of commercial systems regarding market information, research, market price, and Just Energy’s ETRM, in coordination with mid-office, back-office and IT partners

Your background includes:

• Strong MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) skills are a must
• Fluency in SQL, VBA, Python highly preferred
• 0-2 years’ previous analytics experience in supply and trading
• Bachelor’s degree required with preferred majors including Economics, Finance, Engineering, or other energy-related fields
• High analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational abilities, research skills, business acumen
• Ability to quickly assimilate information from multiple sources and comfortable make decisions with ambiguous or incomplete data
• Team player that thrives in a fast-changing environment and foster effective working relationships across many departments
