Duties

The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. This position is telework eligible per agency and business unit discretion/policy.

  • TELEWORK: This position is eligible for maximum telework per agency and business unit discretion/policy.

Prior to the start date, you may be given the opportunity to elect to work from the Alexandria headquarters, from an alternate/home location within the United States (defined as the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico), or a combination of headquarters and alternate location. Your salary/pay will be based on your selected worksite geographical location. The nature and scope of telework opportunities will be subject to the unit's telework policy and any applicable bargaining unit agreements.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service.

Specialized experience for this position includes:

GS-9 (The next lower grade level is GS-7):
  • Experience assisting in the gathering of intake of information for equal employment opportunity (EEO) counseling in order to support processing complaints;
  • Experience applying EEO principles, laws, regulations and policies in processing requests for reasonable accommodations;
  • Experience assisting gathering information in order to drafting reports, and provide input on analyzing demographic data and brief managers on affirmative employment initiatives.

GS-11 (The next lower grade level is GS-9):

  • Experience conducting equal employment opportunity (EEO) counseling;
  • Experience applying EEO principles, laws, regulations and policies when processing reasonable accommodation requests and providing EEO counseling;
  • Experience drafting reports, obtaining demographic data, and providing assistance for making presentations to management.

GS-12 (The next lower grade level is GS-11):

  • Experience processing, tracking, and resolving equal employment opportunity (EEO) complaints including conducing EEO counseling;
  • Experience applying EEO principles, laws, regulations and policies when processing reasonable accommodation requests and EEO complaints, including when providing EEO counseling;
  • Experience writing reports, obtaining and analyzing demographic data, and making presentations to management.

OR

Experience may be substituted as described in the "education" section in this vacancy.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education MAY be substituted for experience if the following criteria is met:
GS-9

  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree; Or
  • 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; Or
  • LL.B, LL.M., or J.D.

GS-11

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or
  • 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or
  • LL.M., if related

GS-12:
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

A listing of these accredited organizations can be found on the Department of Education's website - US Department of Education. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation with a course by course listing along with your application. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.

This is a Non-Bargaining Unit position.

This is a Public Trust position and has a risk level designation of "moderate".

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
