Reed College seeks a Equity and Community Conduct Investigator who is responsible for conducting investigations of alleged student and employee violations of College policy, including the Title IX, Discriminatory Harassment and Sexual Misconduct, Hazing, and Alcohol and Other Drug policies. The investigator will assist the Title IX & Section 504 Coordinator with report intake and the implementation of supportive measures. In addition they will facilitate training and other education and compliance efforts for the campus community related to Title IX, supporting regulation, and applicable state law.

This position will support the Office for Institutional Diversity in conducting initial intake of reports of harassment and discrimination; collaborate with Human Resources, the Dean of the Faculty, and the Assistant Dean of Students for Student Rights and Responsibilities on report follow-up, including by conducting investigations and drafting reports for adjudication or disciplinary action, as appropriate.

This is a full-time, exempt position with typical working hours Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. This is not a remote position. Reed College offers an exceptional benefits package, including comprehensive medical and dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with 10% employer contribution (after one year of service), 22 days of paid vacation, paid holidays, half-day Fridays in the summer, and many other campus amenities, such as membership to the campus fitness center for employee and discounted Trimet transit.

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$75,000

What You'll Do

  • Conduct prompt, fair, and equitable investigations into complaints of student, faculty, and staff violations of Reed College Policy including, but not limited to:
    • Title IX policy
    • Discriminatory Harassment and Sexual Misconduct (DHSM) policy
    • Hazing policy
    • Alcohol and Other Drug Policy
  • Conduct prompt, fair, and equitable investigations into student disability grievances
  • Assist Human Resources and the Office for Institutional Diversity in conducting prompt, fair, and equitable discrimination investigations
  • Gather and document related information in a neutral and objective manner, including by meeting with complainants, respondents, and witnesses
  • Coordinate review of investigative information with complainants, respondents, and advisors
  • Generate detailed investigative reports with summaries of relevant information
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records and notes of investigation meetings and processes
  • Serve as a campus resource, and subject matter expert on requirements of and compliance with Title IX, Title VII, ADA/Section 504, Reed student and employee conduct policies and procedures, and related federal and state laws
  • Assist with the development and implementation of supportive measures and information resolutions, as appropriate
  • Assist in maintaining data and records related to complaints and investigations
  • Assist with training various campus stakeholder groups on related college policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-campus partners (e.g., Information Technology, Human Resources, Dean of Faculty, Office for Institutional Diversity, Disability and Accessibility Resources, Student Judicial Board; Sexual Misconduct Boards, etc.) to conduct investigations and implement support
  • Assist in monitoring student completion of assigned sanctions
  • Assist in the review, analysis, reporting, and presentation of Title IX and student conduct data
  • Collaborate with campus prevention and education programs related to sexual misconduct, hazing, alcohol and other drug use, and other student health related initiatives
  • Participate in ongoing college review and revision efforts related to the Title IX policy and grievance procedures, the DHSM, and the DHSM adjudicative processes
  • Provide assistance with the assessment of the Title IX and ADA/Section 504 compliance programs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 4 years of experience conducting discrimination or related investigations

Preferred

  • Masters degree or other advanced degree in a related field
  • Prior experience conducting investigations in a higher education setting
  • Holds and maintains investigator certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ATIXA, ASCA, or NACUA
