Equity Research Analyst, New Listings

While we’d strongly prefer this position to be in Vancouver, we’re open to candidates working remotely!


We are looking for Equity Research Analysts with significant financial modelling expertise gained through experience in equity research or investment management settings. An integral member of the Canalyst Research Team, contribute your sector expertise and deep financial modelling expertise to growing, developing and maintaining our public equity model library. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create and review detailed financial models on new IPOs across a wide range of sectors and geographies
  • Stay up to date on developments in the IPOs market in order to support prioritization
  • Continuously develop and refine your understanding of client use cases in order to drive improvements in the product
  • Coach and mentor one or more associates
  • Model corporate events such as tuck-in acquisitions, mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, incremental company investments or projects, restructurings, financings, etc.
  • Develop and maintain sector expertise to support the development of modelling standards, dashboards for comparative analysis, and new model features
  • Write product enhancement briefs and industry or company reports to contribute to the Canalyst blog
  • Document modeling best practices
  • Provide exceptional client service to all Canalyst clients
  • Innovate and iterate model driving methodologies
  • Conduct other ad-hoc general research and other company due diligence

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in equity research or investment management only
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Highly team-oriented
  • High integrity
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and work to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of specific sector an asset
  • MBA or Graduate degree an asset
  • Completion or progress towards a CFA or similar designation an asset
  • Leadership experience an asset

  • Pitch an investment idea. Your idea can be on any asset class, in any direction (long or short), and on any time horizon. It can also be a portfolio of different positions.
  • Explain, in detail, an industry trend or structure that can potentially lead to an investable idea. Please quantify the opportunity as much as possible, particularly vs. current market expectations.
