Job Title: DB2 Mainframe AdministratorJob Location: RemotePay rate: $55 to $60 an hourJob Duration: 8 Months + Possible extensionClient: Financial ServicesLooking for a DB2 Database Administrator in the mainframe world with experience on IBM z/OS.NotesPrimary function - DB2 Administration on Mainframe (migration, Upgrades, Installations, Implementation, maintenance etc)Someone with Adabas mainframe experience and natural database experience is good to have.They have 2 platforms - DB2 primary mainframe, Adabas is secondary.They use Jira and Agile methodology – follow monthly sprintsOffice 365 knowledge and experience with Data Masking functionsWill get the knowledge transferSome weekend work may be requiredTeam30-35 people - Average 4-5 for each tech that includes Oracle , SQL, Snowflake, Mainframe.Mainframe team has 7 people - Between Adabas and db2.Job Description:Contingent worker to provide day to day operation and support in the Mainframe Adabas and/or DB2 database platforms. Understand mainframe operation in the IBM z/OS platform.Key ResponsibilitiesAdabas, Natural DB2 Database Administration, implementation, and maintenanceEnforce environment standards like object naming, security, backup and recovery and database administrationStrong working knowledge of the Adabas and DB2 Utility suiteEnsure 24/7 availability and performance of application databases, including on-call supportResolve database performance, capacity and other database related issuesManage database backup and recoveryPrepare, maintain and execute disaster recovery plansTroubleshoot application database issuesOversee, and optimize all database maintenance (i.e. update statistics, etc) and backup processesUnderstanding of ITIL Change/Incident managementRequired & Preferred SkillsMinimum 3 years of experience in supporting/administering DB2 in z/OS, DB2 v12 or greaterExperience with z/OS operating systemKnowledge of VSAM, EntireX, JCL, CICS, TSO, ISPF, REXX, IBM Mainframe Utilities and DB2 Admin ToolUnderstanding of RACF security toolProficiency in Office 365 and text editors, JIRAAbility to learn quickly on the job, open to learn different systems and data platformsStrong communication skills and experience in customer interaction in requirements gatheringSkills in writing scripts to automate and schedule the jobs (Reorg, Runstats, Modify, Image copy, Restore, Load/ Unload, Repair etc)
