Onsite/Remote: Partial Remote Position


This position may be located in Moline, IL or Chicago, IL per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.


Your Responsibilities


As an Event Specialist for John Deere World Headquarters located in Moline, IL, you will:


  • Define meeting and event needs for programs working closely with Strategic Business Units (SBU's), senior division management and all-level corporate clients
  • Use Cvent software tool to execute Request for Proposal's (RFP's), unique registration websites (use of multiple languages, class rotations, multiple sessions, voucher process, etc.), on-arrival event check-in, build and support mobile apps, surveys, event budgeting, custom reports, etc.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers for all aspects of meetings and events including catering, lodging, transportation, speakers, entertainment, etc. Manage and direct services provided by contracted suppliers
  • Communicate meeting and event information to all levels of enterprise management/clients, field staff, dealers, customers and suppliers
  • Reconcile meeting/event budgets/invoicing and post-event metrics reporting

What Skills You Need


  • Registration system software skills necessary to create and maintain Cvent web-based applications
  • 2 or more years planning and organizing corporate events
  • Experience working in the hospitality industry
  • 2 or more years customer service frontline face-to-face experience
  • Project management experience working with complex projects
  • Supply Management experience such as negotiation and sourcing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50% at times. Evening and weekend hours required to support events
  • Ability to be onsite in Moline, IL as business needs arise


What Makes You Stand Out


  • Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) Certification (or certification in process)
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • 1 or more years working with budgets and invoicing
  • Experience managing relationships with external organizations and vendors, such as event production companies, etc. to ensure fair pricing and excellent customer service
  • Experience developing communications such as PPT and metrics reports
  • Exceptional ability to organize, prioritize and follow through with great attention to detail on multiple, simultaneous projects. Respond to requests in a timely manner
  • Problem solving abilities including recommending positive solutions; making decisions using sound judgement and experience
  • Customer service-oriented approach


Education


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Meeting Planning, Business/Management or equivalent experience
