The Executive Director (Student Supports) provides strategic leadership, direction, and guidance to the School Supports & Initiatives Program relating to student behavior, assignment and records, and leadership development. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, a sense of urgency, excellent organizational and communication skills, and attention to detail.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Master's degree in educational leadership or school administration required

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Georgia Leadership Certification within 12 months of hire
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and availability of private transportation, or ability to attend off-site meetings

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in educational leadership required
  • Mid to senior-level experience in an urban educational setting
  • Experience overseeing district-wide programs involving multiple schools and managing multiple employees
  • Principal experience preferred
  • Experience with the successful implementation of restorative justice programs for juveniles
  • Experience coaching principals to increase the capacity and effectiveness of leadership teams

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced knowledge of educational law
  • Possesses strong leadership traits with the ability to lead people and provide direction
  • Experience designing and supporting positive behavioral interventions and supports
  • Ability to use coaching approaches to enhance the performance and well-being of teams
  • Takes the initiative, is detail-oriented, and is highly organized

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversees the continual review, evaluation, development, and implementation of processes and procedures following established federal, state, and local policies
  • Oversees the offices of Student Discipline, Student Assignment and Records, and Leadership Development.
  • Ensures the efficiency of comprehensive plans to support student enrollment/registration, student records, and student transfers
  • Analyzes the implementation and adherence to policies and procedures regarding student discipline and Title IX
  • Provides direction and coaching to district leadership that contributes to the building of systems and supports increasing operational efficiency and student achievement across schools
  • Develops, implements, and promotes partnerships between businesses, non-profit organizations, and the district to support student performance and enhance the culture
  • Leverages partnerships to provide intervention and rehabilitative support to at-risk students
  • +Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.

Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.

Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 15 or more pounds on a frequent basis.

Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.

Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress

Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Will require travel to multiple sites.
