Manages grievance process, arbitrations, unemployment compensation claims, and NLRB charges. Negotiates in various labor packages (VSP) and general bargaining.Primary Duties And Accountabilities• Interface with business unit management and local union leadership to assure continuous operations by providing guidance, interpretation, and direction regarding work within the CBA(s). (40%)• Manage the grievance process including regular and expedited arbitrations. (20%)• Develops strategies and conducts negotiations with local unions regarding work practice changes, and departmental re-organizations. (20%)• Manages labor research efforts. (5%)• Participates on various committees/task forces. (5%)• Develops and presents labor relations training. (5%)• Manages staff. (5%)JOB SCOPE• Works closely with Business Unit management on day-to-day employee/labor relations issues.• Provides direction regarding the administration of the CBA(s) to HR personnel within the Business Unit.• Formulates recommendations involving work rule changes, departmental reorganizations, grievance and arbitrations, legal cases, contract administration, and employee performance issues.• Frequent internal and external contacts with legal resources on matters including-grievances, arbitrations, and the NLRB.• Independent decisions are made daily regarding the application and interpretation of CBA(s), administration of discipline, and other labor, employee issues.• Reports directly to Director of Corporate Employee/Labor Relations.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS• 4-year degree in Management, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Contract law or other comparable field of study and a minimum of 10 or more years of experience in Human resources, such as Labor Relations, Benefits, Compensation.• Extensive working knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements, company policies, and a general understanding of the business unit's operations.• Must have the proven ability to make sound, independent judgments, and decisions.
