Director, Strategic Payment Partnerships

Payment Partnership Management is a highly strategic function for Expedia Group. This role will lead the Payment Partnership with all our acquirers, gateways, and payment processors for Traveler Payments.

What you’ll do:

  • Stay abreast of commercial, regulatory, and innovative trends in the payment industry, be the trusted thought partner for VP of Strategic Partnership as well as the leadership team of Expedia Global Payments

  • Use your long-standing payments experience and payment partner relationships to advocate for scalable, simplified, and agile platform solutions within complex frameworks

  • Ensure our payment business benefits from our partners’ expertise, capabilities, and innovations

  • Own global acquirer, gateway, and payment strategy; lead a team to set and deliver partner strategy at region, payment method and payment method levels

  • Drive strategic alignment between payment partners and Expedia Group teams including marketing, advertisement, banking, legal and EGP products

  • Serve as Expedia Groups go-to person for the payment partners to ensure holistic engagement at the enterprise level

  • Clear understanding the partners’ strategy and how they align with EG Strategy & Vision. Proactively identify opportunities that drive direct financial impact and advance payment platform for EG.

  • Calibrate partner/vendor strategy roadmap behind EGP goals and priorities

  • Partner with vendors to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of prioritized initiatives

  • Transparent and effective business reviews including QBRs and weekly calls

  • Conduct partner/vendor benchmarking, RFI, RFP or similar kind

  • Perform contract negotiations and lead all aspects of contract performance

  • Executive-level escalations and resolution for partner/vendor issues that have substantial impact

  • Establish critical metrics to constantly find opportunities to optimize partner/vendor performance

Who you are:

  • Proven online experience in e-commerce with a focus on global credit card, consumer financial services, or other transaction intensive consumer applications

  • A strong people leader, experience in coaching and leading a team of experienced partner managers

  • A strong negotiator, prior experience in major contract negotiations

  • Established experience in working with external partners, with a history of turning around partner relationships to drive improvement

  • Deep Payment or travel industry knowledge and execution experience, understand economic drivers of each player in the industry value chain

  • Experience working with or for a payment processor, acquiring bank, or payment card brand strongly preferred

The total cash range for this position in New York is $196,000.00 to $255,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $313,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $182,500.00 to $255,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $292,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
