Cost Accounting Manager

The Cost Accounting Manager will develop, manage, and control the operational reporting and cost accounting functions of the company.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field preferred.
• At least two years of experience in cost accounting required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as accounting software.
• Thorough understanding of accounting procedures.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to manage confidential information.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

• Gather and compile cost information and maintain database concerning expenses.
• Develop and maintain standard bill of material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Review and adjust inventory reserves in accordance with accounting policies.
• Predict, plan, and record variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs.
• Compile documentation on standard costs and company production costs.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Review and analyze actual costs to identify inaccuracies.
• Ensure accurate coding of expenses to COGS accounts on the P&L.
• Review, analyze, and report actual profit margins.
• Participate in monthly and yearly closing process including journal entry preparation.
• Implement and maintain procedures and processes for valuing the year-end physical inventory.
• Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
• Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
• Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
