Construction Manager

As a pivotal member of our team, the role of Construction Manager at Extenet involves the comprehensive oversight of construction activities on our projects within the southern region of Texas. While this position is based in South Texas, occasional travel throughout the central region of the U.S. may be required. This multifaceted position entails on-site management, effective coordination of subcontractors, OEM installers, and collaboration with customer representatives. You will be the cornerstone of Extenet's construction expertise, with a focus on DAS and small cell projects, including those within public right-of-way domains, and the associated outside plant construction methodologies. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide array of tasks, from above- and below-ground fiber installation to hub and node construction, as well as facilitating utility make-ready efforts. With a commitment to excellence, you will ensure that all assigned projects are completed in accordance with the agreed-upon timelines established between Extenet and our valued customers. Additionally, you will foster transparent communication with Project Managers and customers to proactively address any issues that may impact project progress or costs while upholding our adherence to Extenet's policies and procedures to support our organizational objectives.

Responsibilities: 

• Site Visits and Oversight: Conduct regular on-site visits throughout the construction process, including bid walks, precon walks, in-progress site inspections, punch walks, and construction closeout evaluations.
• Communication with Project Manager: Maintain daily updates to ensure the Project Manager is well-informed about construction progress and any issues that may impact project cost, quality, or timely completion.
• Site Tracker Maintenance: Daily update of the Site Tracker to accurately reflect project status.
• Adherence to Construction Standards: Ensure all construction work strictly adheres to Extenet's construction standards, processes, and procedures.
• Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and complete project files and ensure the timely distribution of appropriate closeout documents, in compliance with both corporate and customer standards.
• Project Tracking: Maintain the accuracy of all project records within the project tracking system.
• Safety and Quality Assurance: Act as the Extenet safety observer and Quality Assurance representative on-site, ensuring strict compliance with Extenet's safety program and related workmanship practices.
• Emergency Maintenance: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, coordinating necessary actions to address critical issues and minimize service disruptions.
• Scheduled Maintenance: Plan and execute scheduled maintenance activities following established procedures, ensuring minimal impact on service availability.
• Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the dynamic needs of the Outside Plant.

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecommunications/wireless construction.
• Proficiency in Outside Plant Construction techniques, encompassing both aerial and underground methods.
• Familiarity with test equipment and techniques for conducting RF Sweep tests, OTDR, Power Meter, and Passive Intermodulation (PIM) testing.
• Possession of a valid license.

Skills and Abilities: 

• Project Budget Expertise: Proficiency in budget development and execution.
• Construction Management Expertise: In-depth understanding of the construction management process.
• Site Acquisition Expertise: Knowledge of site acquisition procedures, including regulatory and permitting processes.
• Design Plans Understanding: Strong skills in reading and interpreting construction design plans.
• Effective Leadership: Ability to effectively lead and direct teams, diagnose workflow problems, identify critical paths, and implement necessary solutions.
• Customer-Centric Orientation: Customer service orientation with a strong problem-solving approach and exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Computer Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software knowledge.
• Travel: Ability and willingness to travel within the assigned market as required.
