About the role 

As a Senior Software Engineer at Fable, you’ll work closely with product, design, and other engineers to design, develop, and support enterprise-quality features that support our mission to build more inclusive digital products. As part of a growing company and team, you'll be involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle and be encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas along the way.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to the full product development lifecycle from ideation to deployment
• Full stack development across our technology ecosystem - Node.js, MongoDB, Express, React, AWS, and more.
• Developing and maintaining accessible front-end features
• Developing and maintaining backend functionality
• Owning, planning, and working with others on the team to implement project-sized pieces of functionality
• Proactively recommending and championing improvements to processes and product
• Mentoring and upskilling others on the team 

Key qualifications and assets

• At least 6 years of full-stack engineering experience, developing web applications (full stack development - front-end, back-end, databases, and APIs)
• Previous experience working as a senior full-stack engineer
• Experience with the MERN stack, feature flags, and error management
• Experience using AWS cloud services and building applications to run in the Cloud
• Knowledgeable in the craft of software development, including concepts like automated testing, continuous integration, and design patterns
• Experience with web accessibility at some level
• A self-starter who thrives with minimal oversight, eager to join a startup dedicated to making a positive social impact
• Experience working in a remote agile environment 
• Experience building with LMS products is a plus

• Interested in learning about accessibility and follow inclusive design practices
• Invested in learning new tools and are comfortable adjusting to change
• Able to work within bounds of North American time zones, Eastern Time preferred

Pay range

$145,000 CAD - $165,000 CAD - this is a range and is subject to change, depending on experience and role fit. Please take this as a general range.
