Position Overview
This position will provide comprehensive maintenance support to Proterra’s Maintenance Supervisor and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for providing a full range of technical solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact.
About the Role – You will:
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facility’s equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Work with sustaining engineer and equipment vendors to set up a robust PM program.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas (5S).
- Work with battery engineering team and vendors to understand machine control logic (PLC)
- Work schedule for this position will be 2nd shift to support maintenance needs
- Other duties as assigned by management.

- This position will be part of the Manufacturing and Facilities team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
- You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and collaborate with team members located at the manufacturing facility.

Your Experience Includes:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of experience working with automation (i.e., mechanically, electrically or pneumatics)
- 5 years of experience of Control Logic
- Physical Demands:
- May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
- Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
- Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
- Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
- Environmental Demands:
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
- Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
