While timely diagnosis of infectious diseases is critically important to enable effective treatment, testing is primarily performed in centralized laboratories, which require samples to be shipped for processing, delaying the return of results by days. The Role


We are looking for multi-skilled and flexible candidate who can balance technical maintenance, supporting building operations with good people skills. The facilities & operations manager is responsible for creating a suitable working environment, ensuring facilities are always clean and installing and maintaining adequate infrastructure, among other duties.


Moreover, facilities managers need to be able to attend to multiple concerns involving both workers and their working environment, requiring good organizational and multitasking ability.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Requirements

  • Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled duties in support of the facility operations, preventative maintenance, and general maintenance
  • Maintain, troubleshoot (and manage contractors) for items related to building systems and infrastructure, equipment, and grounds, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC and BMS
  • Manage small scale Facilities projects while maintaining regulatory compliance
  • Responds to Facilities Requests and follows up with employees on facilities issues and problems
  • Coordinate calibration related activities with in-house equipment owners and outside calibration service providers
  • Maintain calibration/maintenance database, input new equipment & status of existing equipment/information
  • Implement and oversee business facility software solutions (ie BMRAM, temperature control monitors)
  • Works on assignments that are complex in nature requiring considerable judgment and initiative
  • Review and revise Facilities related SOP's as needed
  • Actively participate as a safety committee member
  • Will have on-call duties and to respond to after-hours emergency calls
  • Support as a back-up shipping and receiving, and material control duties
  • Managing and communicating updates from the property management company

Education, Knowledge & Experience

  • B.S. degree in an Engineering field, Industrial Engineering preferred plus 5-7 years of experience.
  • Prior experience working in a clean room environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience in medical device industry preferred.
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials and chemicals and follow safety procedures.
  • Technical knowledge of the life sciences/diagnostics manufacturing equipment and support equipment including but not limited to: solvent waste and exhaust, solvent waste and exhaust, chilled/condenser water, hot water, process chilled water & DI water, process gases, controls, and monitoring systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of building, fire, safety, and cleanroom standards and codes, including knowledge of Fire Life Safety and Gas Life Safety Systems and requirements.
  • Knowledge of building control systems and remote energy management systems.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of MEP/HVAC BIM/CAD.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual with minimal direction, and as part of a larger multifunctional team.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational planning, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Requires the ability to perform routine bending and lifting and pushing of 20-50 lbs.
  • Open to travel up to 25%, as necessary
