Job Title: MaxFund Animal Shelter Facilities Assistant
Job Summary: MaxFund Animal Shelter is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Facilities Assistant. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our animal shelter facilities, providing a safe and comfortable environment for the animals in our care. The Facilities Assistant will be responsible for assisting with various maintenance tasks, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness, and supporting the overall functioning of the shelter. Responsibilities:
Maintenance Support:
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including painting, plumbing repairs, electrical work, and general building repairs.
- Perform basic carpentry work, such as building and repairing animal enclosures, shelves, and fixtures.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and address any issues promptly.
Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the shelter, including animal enclosures, common areas, and administrative offices.
- Follow established protocols for cleaning and disinfecting animal living spaces to prevent the spread of disease.
- Regularly clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and supplies used in animal care and shelter maintenance.
Facility Organization:
- Assist in organizing and maintaining storage areas for supplies, equipment, and inventory.
- Monitor and restock essential items, such as cleaning supplies, bedding, and food, as needed.
- Coordinate with the Facilities Manager to ensure the efficient utilization of space and resources.
Safety and Security:
- Comply with safety regulations and procedures to maintain a secure environment for animals, staff, and volunteers.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Facilities Manager promptly.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining safety protocols, including emergency preparedness plans.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with other shelter staff, volunteers, and contractors to coordinate facility maintenance projects.
- Provide support during special events and fundraisers, which may involve setting up and arranging event spaces.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant certifications or vocational training is a plus.
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, custodial work, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair techniques, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to upholding cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
