Responsibilities:
Fall 2023 Software Security Co-op/Intern
LOCATION: San Diego, Ca
ONSITE: This role requires the student to work from the San Diego office throughout the duration of the Co-op/Intern term. First time Co-ops/Interns should work full-time and onsite.

The AMD is looking for an engineering intern to join our Product Security Engineering (PSE) team to perform security research and validation of AMD products including EPYC server, Ryzen processor and GPUs. Your role will help ensure AMD’s mission around security, software reliability and security assurance.
As a member of the Product Security Engineering (PSE) team you will be part of a team that focuses on creative ways to analyze the security posture of all AMD products. Under guidance of senior security engineers, you will perform security assessments (Red Team) on AMD products, detecting and mitigating security vulnerabilities. You will learn to leverage internal and external tools like IDA, Ghidra, Kali Linux. Mestasploit to help discover vulnerabilities. You will be allowed to explore your creativity by implementing proof of concepts to demonstrate the impacts of discovered vulnerabilities. You will contribute to the implementation of fuzzing framework that will be leveraged by various departments.

You will work software and hardware engineers to replicate development environments to perform security analysis.

Under guidance, perform vulnerability analysis, code review, static analysis, security testing/fuzzing, and exploitation techniques.

Learn to identify and exploit security vulnerabilities to help determine the security threat level.

Contribute to the develop automated fuzzing framework that can be leveraged by research team, software development and test groups to perform targeted adversarial security testing and validation.

Document findings and work with leadership to create a mitigation strategy.

Prior software internship experience.

Experience with Linux, device drivers and x86 development.

Candidate should be good in technical problem solving and have excellent programming skills in C/C++ and/or Scripting languages like Python or Perl.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of security technologies and the semiconductor industry.

Interest in Ethical Hacking.

Studying towards PHD, MS or BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Qualifications:
