This position will be supporting regional agri sourcing and sharing in the east region and be fully remote with the expectation that this person will attend any meetings, conferences, or trainings as required by their manager. Employees also have access to a 30-day “work anywhere” program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.

The Opportunity

The individual in this regional role will provide agricultural subject matter expertise (SME), technical assistance and support for Feeding America network members engaged in regional agri sourcing and sharing including regional cooperatives, Partner State Associations (PSAs) and protein pack rooms. The focus is to maximize agri food initiatives to increase availability of and access to produce, protein and dairy for people facing hunger. Areas of work will include supporting operations and building regional partnerships to increase network capacity and capabilities for sourcing and distribution of agri foods.

Compensation

Here at Feeding America national organization, equity is central to our mission and is an integral part of our compensation policies and structures. Historically, systemic racism and sexism in all aspects of our society, including compensation practices, has led to pay inequities that negatively impact people of color, women, and especially women of color. These practices include basing salary offers on previous compensation and negotiating salary offers. As such, we maintain transparent salary ranges and clearly defined practices for how our team, including new hire salary offers, moves through these ranges. You can expect us to offer the best salary up front based on these clearly defined pay practices with little room for negotiation. The salary range listed below represents the starting to mid-point salaries for positions and comparable roles at this level at our organization and candidates should expect to be offered a salary near the starting point of the range that is listed on the job posting. We make exceptions for highly experienced (multiple years of at-level experience) new hires in accordance with our pay practices. Once hired, employees have the opportunity to progress through salary ranges via regular merit increases and step promotions. 

Salary Range: $86,000 to $91,000 Based on Experience


Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison to the Feeding America National Organization (FANO) and SME for regional cooperatives, PSAs and protein pack rooms engaged in regional sourcing and sharing.
  • Connect network members to information, partners and resources to support growing agri pounds distributed, equitably and at an optimized cost.
  • Manage grant making activities, projects, processes, and relationships with network partners in their region in support of growing produce, protein and dairy pounds.
  • Foster productive network relationships in the spirit of Better Together and remove obstacles for sourcing and sharing.
  • Work with network members to solve complex problems, identify challenges, and offer solutions for agri food sourcing and distribution at a regional level.
  • Collaborate with the Feeding America network members in their region to influence local, state, and regional agri food sourcing and sharing strategies.
  • Communicate and engage with external agri stakeholders in their region including state and regional commodity organizations and other food recovery organizations to support the development of regional food sharing collaboration models that are clearly documented. Monitor and make recommendations for enhancements as needed.
  • Identify, document, and share best practices for regional agri food sourcing and distribution with other Feeding America member services and participate in educational opportunities and initiatives.
  • Organize meetings and events for stakeholders and represent Feeding America at relevant internal and external events.
  • Engage in Feeding America National Office committees and projects that enhance the organizational mission.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional work experience in agriculture (produce, protein and/or dairy) and/or the charitable food sector
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional work experience providing technical assistance
  • Strong networking and relationship management skills with a background in facilitation preferred
  • Adept at using technology and remote collaboration. Proficiency in Microsoft including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Technical competency in Webex, Salesforce, Smartsheet and Tableau also preferred.
