The Field Engineer - Columbia Shipyardwill be expected to become totally familiar with their system with a goal of becoming the SME (Subject Matter Expert) in all aspects of their assigned system. The chosen candidate will create and research problem reports and follow them to resolution. Responsible for red line markups to prints and drawings as well as test procedures pertaining to their assigned system. Will also work with and support other technicians within GDMS and with General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) in troubleshooting of the system.

In this role, you'll broaden your technical acumen by ensuring proper configuration management of Fire Control System equipment and documentation, identifying risks/opportunities in the shipyard and raise to Site Lead, facilitating communication between the shipyard and Headquarters, troubleshoot issues with sound engineering practices using documentation with guidance from Site Lead, supporting local shipyard activities pertaining to the installation and testing of the Fire Control System and adhere to GDMS and shipyard processes and procedures. Additionally, you'll expand your experience interfacing with customers by participating as a spectator/minor presenter at customer meetings, demonstrating site capabilities to customer on site, providing clear and concise communication skills for status reporting and working within GDEB facilities and with GDEB processes to facilitate installation and testing of the Fire Control System. You will develop your Personal Skills and Technical Acumen by engaging with Site Lead/Local SMEs to learn the system, engaging with Site Lead/Local SMEs to build program knowledge, developing an understanding of associated drawings, fleet doc, requirements, etc. as well as creating more efficient installation or testing methods to be used on subsequent hulls.

NOTE: This position may require periodic travel to New London & Groton, CT

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $97,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year
