Field Supervisor

Census Bureau is looking for a Field Supervisor to oversee the data collection efforts within a specific Field Survey Area. You will be responsible for the supervision of a Field Representative teams, ensuring quality control and accuracy of surveys being conducted in the Field Representative Area of Hennepin, MN. You will be expected to ensure that all Survey Milestones are being met and that all requirements are met on time. Please apply at following location :

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of approximately 6 to 15 Field Representatives responsible for data collection in accordance with the scientific standards and expectations set by the Census Bureau and survey sponsors.
  • Understands surveys being conducted including response patterns, differences in survey procedures, their effect on interviewing experience, and is able to leverage general guidance, previous training, experience, and survey resource material in directing Field Representatives to resolve issues.
  • Regularly assists with the recruitment and training of Field Representatives.
  • When needed, conducts in person interviews throughout the assigned geographic area.
  • Evaluates, monitors, and mentors Field Representative performance through performance metrics on the job observations, regular performance reviews and conducts supervisory and administrative duties including the review and approval of payroll and leave requests.

This position has a mixed-tour work schedule. A mixed-tour work schedule provides for periods of full-time, part-time, and/or intermittent work to accommodate fluctuating workloads. Position may include evening or weekend work up to 40 hours, hours will vary. The candidate(s) selected for this position must sign an agreement outlining the conditions of employment prior to appointment.

This is a NON-BARGAINING unit position.

Requirements

  • You must be 18 years old.
  • You must be an US Citizen.
  • You must maintain a residence within the area of consideration that will serve as your duty station. Please click here to review a map of the area of consideration.
  • You must have good hearing and the ability to read small print found on surveys. You must be in good physical condition to drive, walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • You will occasionally be required to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • You must be willing to travel throughout all parts of the Field Supervisor area, sometimes on short notice and sometimes overnight.
  • You must have access to a vehicle (or public transportation) so that you can travel throughout the assigned geographic area.
  • You must establish and maintain a safe work environment in your residence.
  • You must have an internet connection at your residence. If internet is not available in your area, must be able to connect to a cellular network.
  • You must be willing to use all methods of communication (face to face, phone call, emails, letter, etc.).
  • You must be willing to accept all assignments and work multiple surveys.
  • You must be suitable for Federal employment.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable, at time of hire (www.sss.gov).
  • Internal candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
  • You will be required to serve a 1-year supervisory trial period

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.14 - $26.17 per hour
