BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY (Briefly describe the purpose and scope of the job).
The Financial Analysis Accountant will work under general supervision to calculate and post monthly accruals for Operating Expenses and Capital Expenditures for Devon’s business segments, and provide analysis of internal financial reports to Business Unit and Accounting leadership. The accountant also performs various other tasks including coding reviews, preparing manual journal entries, performing account reconciliations, supporting process and system optimization efforts, and providing customer service to accounting and operations teams as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (List the specific responsibilities and work functions expected to be performed).
- Leverage understanding of the principles, theories and concepts of oil and gas accounting and apply them to assignments such as preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation and analysis of financial data
- Develop and apply an understanding of financial and accounting analysis and problem solving
- Calculate and record monthly accruals for Capital Expenditures and Operating Expenses
- Present monthly Financial information to Accounting Management
- Provide support to operations and accounting teams as needed
- Provides support to other team members on complex tasks and projects
- Assists in identifying, developing, and implementing process optimization
- Collaborate with other team members and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices
- Develop and promote recommendations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to drive overall business performance
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION (Minimum level of education required for the job).
- Bachelor’s degree required - Accounting/Finance preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Identify any special tasks, skills and/or abilities unique to this job).
- 5+ years Oil and Gas accounting experience preferred
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities/tasks and manage deadlines
- Advanced Microsoft 365 skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Teams
- SAP experience a plus
- Process automation and optimization experience preferred
- Working knowledge of data analysis and automation tools/techniques (i.e. Power BI, Power Automate, UiPath, Alteryx, FME) preferred
