Financial Analyst - Capital & Risk Management

Position Narrative (Overview):

SageSure, the insurance first, tech-forward, managing general underwriter, is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Capital and Risk Management team. The Financial Analyst will help to evaluate capital and risk for portfolios of homeowners insurance. This will include developing and synthesizing financial data for consideration in conjunction with proprietary catastrophe risk analysis, regulatory capital assessment, rating agency capital reviews and internal capital planning. Through strategic research, analysis, and reporting, the successful candidate would help leadership make well informed decisions regarding insurance risk portfolios and capital structures. What you'll be doing:

  • Creating financial models and assessing capital structure choices. Compiling and analyzing financial data (historical and projected).
  • Preparing competitor analysis.
  • Helping to systematize and support the evaluation of proprietary, rating agency and regulatory capital requirements.
  • Developing strong subject matter expertise relating to catastrophe risk and its implications for capital planning.
  • Driving process improvement in capital and risk reporting.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Strong experience in financial analysis and general understanding of capital structures.
  • Strong initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; well organized.
  • Intermediate level experience with Excel (Index/Match, Sumifs, V-look ups, Pivot Tables etc.)
  • At least three years of professional accounting/finance experience.

Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Solid understanding of insurance accounting, including an appreciation of the differences between GAAP and statutory accounting.
  • Experience in reviewing capital structures.
  • Proficiency in successfully utilizing databases, tracking tools, and financial software applications.
  • A degree from a 4-year accredited university/college in one of the following degree programs: Bachelors or Masters in: Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business.
