Job Summary

The Financial Analyst will be supporting the expanding mortgage servicing business at Planet Financial Group and its subsidiary companies. This position will be responsible for monitoring servicing portfolio activity, daily and monthly recording of servicing activity, reconciling general ledger accounts monthly, and automating and streamlining processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Daily servicing portfolio cash postings and analysis, which includes preparation of daily templates based on servicing system reports, periodic review of daily cash templates for further improvements and automation initiatives, and posting of daily cash entries to GL.
• Monitor and track servicing portfolio activity, with related accounting entries and monthly reconciliations. This includes detailed review of loans and coordination with Planet’s Servicing department on discrepancies. Ongoing focus on streamlining and automating routine transactions as well as developing actionable exception reports.
• Ad hoc analysis and special projects due to growing portfolio and new regulations.

Position Requirements

Education

• Bachelors degree in accounting required.

Experience

• 2+ years operational accounting experience required, mortgage servicing accounting experience a plus

Functional/Technical Skills

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with various internal and external operations team members in multiple locations
• Experience with SQL reporting a plus
• Strong working knowledge of Excel required
• Must be comfortable working on a small accounting team in a growing company, and willing to take on special projects as they arise.
