Financial Reporting Manager

About the role:


The purpose of the role is to act as the senior leader of the Bank’s expanding Finance team based in Northwich. The job holder will provide leadership and guidance to the finance function and take senior responsibility for delivering on the activities of the team along with the career development activities of team members.


The job holder will lead and leverage an expanding team to deliver superior financial reporting services to the Bank focusing on accuracy and timeliness of outputs whilst ensuring a robust control environment is in place and issues are escalated in a proactive manner to ensure effective resolution. Delivering improved operational processes to accommodate the growth plans of the Bank will be key to the success of this role.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:


This role will be responsible for leading the financial reporting team to deliver high quality outputs for the Bank. You will also:


  • Project manage and deliver the annual audit of the Bank’s financial statements
  • Deliver the half-year and full-year group reporting packs
  • Take the lead on the wider finance team’s risk management activities and specific responsibility for risk management within financial reporting. Further develop the Bank’s existing control environment to ensure compliance with new and evolving internal control requirements from both the UK and, where relevant, abroad.
  • Implement and manage the financial consolidation activities of the finance team to incorporate new branches, entities and products into the Bank’s financial reporting processes
  • Oversee the month-end closing activities of the Finance team and deploy a thorough understanding of the underlying drivers of the Bank’s financial performance in your review activities
  • Review and recommend for approval all tax requirements of the Bank including corporation tax, VAT and other relevant taxes and tax-related processes.
  • Ensure the regular delivery of income tracking reports is performed and reviewed and submit weekly flash estimates of P&L and Balance Sheet positions to the Bank’s parent company.
  • With the support of the Project Accountant drive the upgrade of the Bank’s financial reporting systems and processes making proactive recommendations for delivering best-in-class solutions to the team.
  • Act as the team’s subject matter expert on IFRS accounting standards, applying relevant standards to initiatives being undertaken by the Bank and preparing analytical papers supporting the relevant accounting treatment adopted by the Bank.
  • Develop a horizon scanning process concerning financial reporting topics including the ongoing development of IFRS standards, relevant tax and VAT requirements, Companies Act enhancements and other reporting and disclosures affecting the territories the Bank operates in including the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures
  • Support the management accounting team’s analytical activities on an occasional basis. In particular support the production of periodic Board and ALCO papers.
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller on key projects and activities as required.

Person/Experience required:


  • Recognised accounting qualification
  • Proven line management experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Power-point & Excel)
