For more information, please visit www.careers.firstam.com.What We DoSupport the investment management group and other FAT business units in the area of investment research, strategy, analysis, trading, operations, and accounting. Provide senior level managerial reports and analysis regarding the FAT investment portfolio. Works with FAT business units to drive process improvement through identifying opportunities to streamline business processes and procedures. Act as a liaison between FAT and its auditors, broker-dealers, vendors, and other business units to better define processes and/or generate, update and create more efficient services.What You'll Be Doing• Significant primary responsibility for research coverage of equity industry sectors, asset classes, strategies, and/or sophisticated analytical processes (IRR, GIPS, etc.)• Proven track record of alpha generation.• Takes on leadership roles within the investment management group in regards to research, trading, operations, accounting and analysis.• Collects and interprets data, creates reports and performs complex analysis regarding the FAT investment portfolio.• Sets objectives for project goals and monitors project to achieve those goals.• Identifies issues and inefficiencies and recommends process improvements.• Develops creative solutions and drives change.• Influences department processes and procedures.• Negotiates, persuades and gains consensus from a cross functional team.• Partners with FAT business units, auditors, broker-dealers, and vendors to streamline business processes and improve efficiency.Job Complexities & Impact• Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and established policies and procedures• Troubleshoots a wide variety of complex problems and identifies solutions within broad application of functional expertise• Errors will have significant business and financial impactSupervision Received or Extended• No formal responsibility for the supervision of others but may provide functional advice or training to less experienced team members• Works independently under broad supervision• Regularly instructs, directs, and assigns work to other Investment Analysts, monitoring project status• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at the senior management level across functional groups and business unitsWhat You'll Bring• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience• MBA or CFA preferred• 15+ years of experience• Excellent analytical skills• Strong attention to detail.• Advanced knowledge of general economic conditions, business cycle, and investment analysis techniques (fundamental, technical, valuation)• Ability to multi-task, independently solve problems and meet deadlines• Professional level written and oral communication skills.• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and teamwork skills• Strong mentorship skills• Self-motivated; self-starter• Ability to respond quickly to emergent problems and focus both on long-range projects and immediate tasks• Advanced MS Office skills required• Experience with analyzing Alternative Investments a plus but not required• Advanced knowledge of Bloomberg, Morningstar, and relevant investment trading/operations platformsSalary Range: $131,800.00-$175,750.00This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting.
