About the role

As Flat6Labs Financial Accountant, you will assist in the financial aspects of development programs, with a primary focus on preparing statements, supporting budgeting, financial analysis, and donor reporting. This role will involve working closely with internal teams and external donors to ensure accurate financial tracking, fund allocation, and compliance with reporting requirements.


Main Responsibilities:
                       
Financial Accounting & Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Collect, document, and organize all memos from various teams, and ensure alignment with the allocated budgets.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and alignment of program expenditures with approved budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgeted targets and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Assist with year-end audit preparations and liaise with external auditors to provide required documentation.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Donor Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports for donors, ensuring alignment with donor agreements and reporting schedules.
  • Track, allocate, and monitor Program funds following donor requirements, ensuring clear documentation and audit trails.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting for donor-funded programs.
  • Assist with financial aspects of grant proposals by providing relevant budgetary information and financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with donor-specific financial regulations and guidelines throughout the program lifecycle.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement:

  • Support enhancing financial systems, procedures, and internal controls to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline financial reporting and operations.


Risk Management:

  • Assess financial risks and propose strategies to mitigate them.
  • Monitor and report on key financial risk indicators.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with departments across the organization to gather financial information and provide insights.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or working with donor-funded projects.
  • Strong financial planning and analysis skills, with the ability to create and manage budgets.
  • Experience with donor-funded project management and financial reporting is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good experience using ERP software.
