The Opportunity
We are excited to hire our first Paralegal that will support our General Counsel. This role requires you to be local to the SF Bay Area and willing to meet in person to support our General Counsel. We are looking for an individual who has the ability to create and drive a project from start to finish. The ideal candidate is analytically-minded, fast-paced, and detail-oriented that is excited to operationalize and streamline the business process and coordination of the General Counsel and Legal Team.
Assist in preparing, revising, redlining and proofreading various corporate documents including transactional matters, compliance, closing documents, audit letters, contracts, agreements, etc.
Assist with assembly of pre-closing documents and sets of executed documents for various signatures, and amendments.
Conduct research to support various legal projects/proceedings that the General Counsel and Legal Team are working on
Working knowledge of filing procedures, requirements and e-filing with Secretary of State office, in addition to federal, state and local courts and agencies, and working with Company’s third party vendor(s) to manage all company filings
Assist in scheduling appointments and travel, including meetings and court dates for General Counsel and various legal team members, particularly with respect to any trial/hearing date(s).
Mail: Reviews, prioritizes, and routes all general mail incoming to the Legal Team. Prepares outgoing mail and overnight packages utilizing Flock’s UPS account.
Monitor deadlines with respect to the numerous subpoena requests/required filings received and work with the General Counsel to ensure deadlines are entered and met.
The Skillset
5+ years of Paralegal or Legal Assistant experience
An exceptional ability to build strong relationships with many types of people in a variety of roles, especially executive leadership
Outstanding ability to proactively solve problems and prioritize time and tasks
Are trustworthy, reliable, and maintain strict confidentiality
Past experience being a strategic thought partner to executives
Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Notary preferred
College Degree or Equivalent preferred, but not required.
Expert proficiency with the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications.
Exceptional organizational skills that reflect ability to seamlessly perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.

The First 30 Days
Build relationships with the General Counsel, as well as the Legal Team and cross-functional stakeholders
Shadow the General Counsel to understand their preferences, communication style and key contacts.
Become familiar with Flock - learn our OKRs, company history, roadmap, culture, product suite and more.
Become familiar with the current process for receipt and response to subpoena requests and state/agency filings.
Become familiar with the research needs of the General Counsel and Legal Team
The First 60 Days
Create a new process(es) and templates for common documents and responses to subpoenas/agency filings to save time and ensure consistency.
Create a new process for the execution of the numerous documents received by the General Counsel that require signature and notarization.
Proactively anticipate the General Counsel’s needs and prepare for last-minute requests
Take ownership of specific projects or initiatives
Elevate travel for Legal Team members traveling for testimony by collecting pre-work prior to hearings/trial to ensure the most effective testimony.
Develop a process with respect to gathering all legal research compiled to date and moving forward, and creating a database for ease of access to all research compiled.
90 Days & Beyond
Collaborate with the General Counsel to establish goals for the next quarter, create an action plan with clear milestones and deadlines.
Own the process with respect to responding to subpoenas and state filings
Own the legal research database

The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
💰Salary & Equity: In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $90,000-$115,000 as well as stock options
