Accounting is responsible for producing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This requires thorough knowledge of US GAAP and also to keep up with new developments and standards that are released. The complexity of our business has increased over the years resulting in an increase in the technical accounting complexity. We need someone who is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of our accounting, including tracking and testing our significant assumptions and estimates, maintaining our written accounting policies, and researching and documenting significant and/or complex transactions. This is an integral role that will build on the progress we’ve made and help to continue to create a high-performing, mature accounting organization.
At least 2 years of experience in a technical accounting role in a fast growing private company or a medium to large public company OR
Experience as a manager or a senior manager with a BIG 4 accounting firm.
Thorough knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718 and ASC 360.
Proven ability to grasp complex accounting transactions, research accounting requirements and document conclusions.
Experience managing teams of at least 4, including coaching and mentoring.
Prior experience working directly with external auditors.
Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and SEC/S-X Rules.
CPA or Chartered Accountant.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to engage verbally and in writing with senior executive management.
Proven ability to be agile and adapt to a fast changing environment.

The First 30 Days
Review the Company’s financial statements and understand each of the accounts in terms of what is included in account balances, the transaction flow that generates or changes those account balances.
Develop an understanding of the revenue process, the Company’s revenue recognition policies and significant estimates/assumptions.
Partner with the revenue team and understand the monthly revenue close process.
Start familiarizing with the Subscriber System Assets process, accounting policies, and significant estimates/assumptions.
Get to know the team, everyone’s role, and how you can make the biggest impact.
The First 60 Days
Partner with the revenue team to enhance the monthly revenue close and review process.
Be thorough with the subscriber system assets process, accounting policy and related risks.
Prepare an inventory of our accounting policies, assessing where the gaps are in current memos or where we might need additional memos or documentation.
Begin to work through updating and creating accounting policies, with a goal to complete them by 90 days.
Create a plan to evaluate significant estimates or assumptions on an appropriate cadence.
90 Days & Beyond
Ensure that the monthly close process for revenue is done timely and accurately, with appropriate review and controls in place.
Ensure that all accounting policies are appropriately documented.
Create a plan to draft memos for historical revenue, SSA, and equity transactions.
Be the go-to person for any technical accounting issues, from revenue to stock compensation to commissions, etc.

The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
