DepartmentFSU LibrariesResponsibilities• Create, deliver and evaluate instructional and consultative services related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and emerging technologies that advance research, teaching, and learning. This includes creating instructional materials, teaching workshops, and consulting scholars on AI/ML practices on topics such as: prompt engineering, machine learning libraries, computational linguistics, and research methods.• Serve as the academic liaison to the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and other areas based on academic background and interest. This includes course integrated development and offer research services related to artificial intelligence for research, teaching, and learning.• Collaborate with library colleagues, faculty, and others within assigned liaison areas to align instruction, reference, collection, and research support with the evolving needs of students and faculty.• Provide service to the Libraries, the University, and the profession by contributing to committees, participating in research and other forms of scholarly activity.QualificationsGraduate degree in a STEM discipline and/or ALA accredited degree in library/information science.Preferred Qualifications• Demonstrated expertise using resources in engineering, computer science or data science including databases, journals, and preprints.• Experience and a strong interest in AI/ML applications and uses within higher education and research. This includes experience with natural language processing, computational linguistics, prompt engineering or other related skills.• Flexibility in adapting to changing organizational priorities and technological environments.• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and effectively in groups.• Knowledge and understanding of the data and information needs of science and engineering researchers.• Expertise in one or more next generation artificial intelligence) tools like Google Bard, ChatGPT, Co-pilot, or Claude.ai.• Experience providing library instruction and research support, or equivalent experience.HelpfulFlorida State University Libraries seeks a highly collaborative and service-minded individual as the Artificial Intelligence and Engineering Librarian. This new role is crucial in advancing research and scholarship at FSU by providing consultative research and teaching support for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and emerging technology. This position will be responsible for providing new library resources and services geared towards advancing FSU scholars’ knowledge and understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and emerging technology tools for teaching and research. They will also be the academic liaison for the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in addition to other areas based on academic background and interest.The incumbent will work collaboratively across library divisions to provide programs and services that support the research, teaching and learning needs of FSU scholars. They will also be responsible for building partnerships and providing academic support, as well as suggesting and reviewing tools for artificial intelligence applications.
