The Food Service Attendant assembles, serves, and delivers food, and performs sanitation activities in assigned areas: patient area for patient tray assembly and sanitation; patient tray delivery and menu collection; or the detail dining areas. May operate dishwasher or assists with washing/sterilizing dishes. Performs cleaning and sanitizing duties.
This is a full-time position with competitive rates starting at $17/hr. Evening and weekend shifts receive a shift differential, and weekend shifts are required. You must be at least 16 years of age to apply for this position.
We are offering a $3,000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only (or current D-H employees moving to a 30 - 40 hour per week position from a per diem role) and certain conditions apply.

Responsibilities
Patient Tray Assembly and Sanitation: Plates food items and assembles patient meal trays. Assembles add-on sheet items and tube feeding items following proper procedures. Prepares food items for all areas, following standardized recipes and production methods. Prepares patient nourishment's and write-ins as tallied following proper production procedures. Ensures that area and equipment are maintained up to accepted standards and quality. Loads and operates dish washing equipment. Takes dish machine temperatures daily. Takes pot machine temperatures daily and pH level of sanitizer. Performs assigned cleaning functions, ensuring that areas and equipment are maintained up to accepted standards of quality. Operates floor washing machine Maintains and properly stocks all necessary food and supply items. Labels and dates all necessary food and supply items. Uses and mixes chemicals in a safe manner. Labels all secondary bottles.
Patient Tray Delivery and Menu Collection: Assists with tray delivery and retrieval. Collects patient menus on assigned units. Assists patients with menu completion using hard copy menus or laptops. Performs inventory of food and supplies for assigned units. Assembles these supplies and delivers to the assigned unit. Takes temperatures of assigned refrigerators and freezers and documents as required
Retail Dining Areas: Performs procedures in the retail areas according to all State and hospital guidelines, including serving, and/or portioning of food, preparing items to order, informing/directing customers as needed. Takes refrigeration temperatures, hot and cold food temperatures to assure proper storage and serving temperatures. Cleans assigned areas/equipment following institutional standards. Orders, collects and restocks food supplies in assigned areas. Displays and labels food items using menu boards and POS signage. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma (or GED) strongly preferred.
Ability to read and write required.
Prior satisfactory work experience is desired.
