Overview
Food Services Dishwasher is responsible for all sanitation and inventory stock duties according to regulatory standards and Food & Nutrition policy/procedure. Ensures a neat, clean and safe work environment is maintained. Follows proper body mechanics and can demonstrate knowledge and competency in the proper use of all cleaning chemicals and supplies.
What you will do
Ensures all service ware are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each meal and in a timely manner so as to prevent a delay in tray line and cafeteria service. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in the ability to properly utilize the dish machine and 3 compartment sink. Competently completes the proper setup, breakdown, and cleaning of dish machine and other kitchen equipment according to Food & Nutrition Services policy/procedure. Handles service ware with care to minimize loss and damage/breakage, immediately removing any damaged service ware from service and alerting management before discarding. Accurately documents dish machine temperatures (and pot sink sanitizing temperatures/sanitizing logs) to ensure proof that the dishes and utensils have been cleaned and sanitized at the proper temperature and alerts management when temperatures fall below regulatory standards.
Delivers patient trays to nursing units within established time limits so there will be minimal temperature loss and patients will be fed at required times. Demonstrates flexibility and reliability when meeting the needs of the customer.
Demonstrates the ability to use time effectively and during periods of heavy workload, is able to aid other workers in the completion of their work.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with patients and patient families so that patients and their families perceive positive patient care from the hospital. Demonstrates positive communication with internal customers (physicians, team members, etc.). Demonstrates flexibility and reliability when meeting the needs of the customer.
Follows FIFO (First In First Out) inventory practices, ensuring all products are rotated, labeled and dated, in a timely manner according to Food & Nutrition Services policy/procedure. Monitors temperatures and quality of food in food storage areas alerting management to any discrepancies. Ensure that no stock is left on the floor.
Demonstrates knowledge and competency in the proper use of all cleaning chemicals and supplies ensuring chemicals dispensers are working properly and immediately alerting management when discrepancies are noticed. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in accordance with regulatory standards and Food & Nutrition Services policies and procedures. Performs all cleaning duties in a timely, safe, and thorough manner in compliance with Infection Control Standards and Food & Nutrition policies and procedures. Ensures completion of all assigned cleaning tasks, as noted in job work flows and posted assignment sheets, prior to end of shift. Alerts supervisor/manager when unable to complete tasks as assigned
Removes kitchen trash periodically throughout and prior to end of the shift, always maintains clean trash cans with lids and liners and (Retail areas where applicable). Sweeps and cleans floors as needed throughout the shift and thoroughly at the end of each shift. Utilizes wet floor signs during cleaning process. Ensures the dish machine and all floors are cleaned daily; trash is pulled and dumped prior to the end of shift to ensue proper sanitation.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED, (Preferred)
Experience
1 year Food Service Experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
Food Handlers Card (FH) - State Food Safety within 30 Days(Required)
ServSafe Allergen within 180 Days (Required)
