Foth is currently seeking a team-focused and results-oriented Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) who has a desire to contribute to our clients’ success by teaming with technical leaders in designing innovative solutions for complex multi-faceted geospatial projects across our Infrastructure Solutions team. This position will be working out of our Des Moines, IA location.  

• Provide technical geospatial and project management skills as a surveyor

• Perform equipment installations and conduct tests requiring selection and/or adaptation or modification of equipment or testing procedures
• Complete description writing, interpretation and layout for a variety of surveys including easement, property, ALTA, site, topographic, construction staking, etc.
• Perform right-of-way platting including, but not limited to, research, horizontal and vertical control, preparing base maps, computing existing R/W, parcel lines, permanent and temporary easements, and writing descriptions for purchasing of R/W and easements
• Prepare legal descriptions
• Perform boundary/control surveying and mapping
• Maintain and operate instruments, measuring devices and other field equipment
• Assist in 3D laser scanning efforts

• Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent education and experience
• 4+ years of survey experience
• Iowa DOT experience with ROW Platting and TPP Platting
• LSIT and working towards an Iowa license as a Professional Land Surveyor

• Experience with the following Trimble technology: Business Center-Data Management Software, Robotic Total Stations W/Vision Software

• Foth will cover study time and materials, and you will receive a $2500 bonus once you receive your PLS licensure
• Foth will pay a bonus of $5000 for a LSIT that is able to obtain their PLS within 12 months
