The Role
Wpromote is building out our Performance Creative team and we are looking for an amazing Freelance Digital Art Director who is driven by innovation, data, creativity, and design. You'll conceptualize digital ads in partnership with Performance Creative Leads and delegate the vision to a team of editors and graphic/motion designers. You will also assist with the pitch process and communicate ideas to clients. This small and mighty team leverages data to help craft the creative story to the right audience at the right time. The anticipated hourly rate for this role will range from $75.00 - $120.00, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, and market dynamics.
This position is based in LA/West Coast, starting around 32-hours

Developing creative briefs and managing projects/deliverables across the team

Approving work and giving feedback to your team of designers to produce excellent visual work

Managing and mentoring a team of designers, video editors, and creators with regular feedback and team-building exercises

Supporting the designers by creating concept boards, pitch decks, sales docs, email creative, Facebook and Instagram ads, YouTube ads, banners, static, carousel, and others as needed based on bandwidth

Working with the Performance Creative Leads to create concepts for digital ads and implementing channel-specific playbooks and methods across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Amazon, Content Marketing, Search, Google ads, and others

Leading brainstorming sessions with Performance Creative Leads for large campaigns, transforming thoughts and half-ideas into fun, innovative, and clever executions

Building out visual ideas via storyboards, mocks, sketches, etc, and creating mood boards that distill or expand on the visual tone of a brand

Overseeing a broad range of digital projects for clients across most product and service categories, B2C, B2B

Championing the look and feel of your clients (style guides are your bible)

Generating templates and rebuilt assets for each client for other editors and motion designers to use in their work

Conducting competitor analysis on all Wpromote Performance Creative clients

Collaborating with the Performance Creative Leads to apply the latest paid media best practices to every creative opportunity

5-6 years experience at a digital advertising agency or marketing firm (Performance Marketing experience preferred)

An exceptional digital portfolio showcasing innovative concepts and creative solutions (please include a link or attachment with your application)

Experience in making performance-focused ads for Facebook and Instagram, YouTube, Amazon, and other channels

Advanced knowledge of Mac OS, Adobe CC Suite (photoshop/illustrator), and After Effects

Strong communication skills to work with internal teams and present to clients

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the ability to stay organized and juggle competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail

Demonstrates expert graphic design fundamentals including advanced typography, hierarchy, layout, and prototyping skills, conceptual abilities, and understanding of user-centric design

Experience concepting and storyboarding for motion graphics with the ability to communicate those concepts to a team of designers

Ability to follow creative direction and feedback from internal teams and clients

Comfortability with a modular systemic approach to creativity

Highly skilled in leading and working with a team of creative talent

The ability to pre-build and create templated graphic packages for video editors

A positive, open mind that is focused on having a stellar creative vision with a strong understanding of Performance Creative business objectives

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field

Knowledge of HTML5 banner animation is a plus
