The Position:
We’re looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer that will help take our cloud infrastructure to the next level. You will help define the patterns and practices for the next evolution of our cloud infrastructure and containerized deployments, the services we use in the cloud, and the standards we follow in order to build a stable, secure, and scalable platform for our engineering group. This role will include high-level design and architecture of Cloud and DevOps practices, combined with hands-on implementation and coding of cloud components, automation, and application updates.
This role provides a unique opportunity to blend cloud infrastructure, software development, and operations expertise to impact the entire organization as we continue to grow our systems, teams, and processes. This person will be on our cloud infrastructure team and collaborate closely with other Engineers: Platform, Security, Data, and Software. Our mission is to enable our customers, GameChanger engineering, to efficiently deliver great products on a secure and reliable platform.
What You'll Do
Establish and drive infrastructure best practices using industry-standard tools and frameworks (e.g., AWS Well-Architected, 12 factor apps, etc.) to improve scalability, resiliency, cost-efficiency, and developer experience of our cloud platform.
Architect, Design, and build major components of cloud infrastructure to enable secure, reliable, scalable, and easy use of cloud services on AWS.
Hands-on building of cloud infrastructure and automation by writing software and infrastructure as code. Make changes yourself or work closely with application engineers to update applications and deployment pipelines as needed to support cloud changes.
Work closely with Security Engineers to ensure our cloud environment follows security best practices, integrating and standing up tools and vendors as needed, and writing automation to detect and fix gaps.
Design and build systems and procedures to allow accurate cost reporting of cloud infrastructure, analyze solutions for possible cost efficiency, and work with product managers and engineers to drive and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.
Build, and maintain observability tools and alerts (we currently use datadog) for our infrastructure and software so that engineers can quickly receive feedback on their changes.
Collaborate with other DevOps/SRE/Security Engineers on projects in the DevOps space - E.g., integrating new tools, improving deployment speed, improving scalability and resiliency of cloud-deployed applications.
Build relationships with product and platform engineering teams to understand roadmaps, influence architectural decisions, and ensure our infrastructure is setup for teams to self-serve as much as possible
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience to have developed software engineering fundamentals.
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a DevOps role or a similar position.
Experience architecting and building cloud infrastructure with IaC such as Terraform.
Deep knowledge of AWS services, patterns and best practices for resiliency, scalability, and security. AWS Certifications not required but preferred
Experience developing software. We work with Python for most platform automation and TypeScript in application code, but you'll get a chance to learn them if your background is with different languages.
