Job Title: Receptionist Exemption Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Executive Director or Director Date Revised: October 2017Dept./School: Designated DepartmentPay Grade: P14 Min: $135.00 Mid: $164.63 Daily ratesDays: 226Primary PurposeAnswer the phone in a pleasant and professional manner, directing calls to appropriate individuals. Under moderate supervision, respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and the public, provide requested information and/or referral to the appropriate parties, direct visitors, and provide general clerical support for the department's efficient operation.Education/Certification• High school Diploma or equivalent• Certified Educational Office Professional certification (CEOP) preferred• Bilingual preferredExperience• Minimum of one (1) year of experience clerical experienceSpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities• Ability to operate a multi-line phone system• Effective public relations, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills• Experience in providing outstanding customer service• Ability to speak, read, and understand English• Ability to effectively present information in one on one situations• Ability to read and comprehend instructions• Detail orientedMajor Responsibilities And DutiesReception and Phones• Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route them to the appropriate staff.• Greet all visitors, respond to their inquiries, and or direct them to appropriate personnel in accordance with district policies and procedures regarding building security.• Receive mail deliveries and disseminate materials and information to the appropriate parties.Other• Assist department Administrator if needed.• Maintain confidentiality.• Perform all other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneMental Demands/Physical Demands Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of a mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: Work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hoursMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; maintain confidentialityInquiries to: Jason Wheeler, Executive Director, CommunicationsJWheeler2@garlandisd.net
