Credit Analyst I

Gas South Analyst work in a fast-paced, challenging, and innovative environment.  A Gas South Analyst is always looking for the ‘why’ behind the data and leveraging their intuition to guide their analyses.  As a Gas South Analyst, you would play a critical role in business decisions, get to work closely with company leadership, and make a difference in others’ lives and in your career from day one.

This position reports directly to the Manager of Treasury and Credit and is responsible for performing credit risk analysis on new and existing customers and providing recommendations on the establishment of credit limits based on financial, industry, business, and market information. In addition, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining all assigned credit reports along with performing other analysis as needed.  The Financial Analyst will build and maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally and support the credit team in meeting all departmental and company goals.  Every Gas South Analyst is a problem-solver who drives the growth of our business and provides not only invaluable technical support within their departments, but also serve as internal consultants who work cross-functionally to tackle a wide array of challenging business problems.  Becoming a Gas South Analyst offers exceptional growth opportunity with a four-level career path.  As Analyst grow and gain experience, they progress through the four levels (I, II, Senior, Lead) and take on greater responsibility as both contributors and leaders.   

Other stuff we like:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration preferred with an excellent academic record
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL and/or Python a plus
  • Strong technical and quantitative skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial statements
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects across the finance department
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of data analysis, model building, model valuation
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Internship or prior work experience
  • Relevant experience in financial analysis preferred
  • Experience with various credit tools (Credit Risk Monitor, GCS, Equifax, etc.) a benefit

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Monitoring counterparty exposure to ensure that trading activity is in line with established credit limits and relevant credit policy
  • Monitoring customer aggregate exposures to insure they are within tolerance of set credit limits
  • Making credit decisions within assigned authority for credit checks and credit reviews
  • Preparing credit reviews for counterparties to assess credit quality and recommending appropriate credit limit
  • Developing strong relationships with Sales, SRM, Legal, Accounting, and Operations to ensure accurate and relevant information sharing across departments
  • Supporting the adherence to credit/risk policies and procedures by all departments
  • Preparing and maintaining reports to monitor and identify credit risks
  • Providing clear interpretation and presentation of financial data and analysis to stakeholders
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial stability and risk factors of all customer classes
  • Making strategic recommendations for solutions to business problems
  • Improving operational and analytical efficiency
  • Assisting in managing credit policy documentation
  • Aiding in various treasury functions including interest, bad debt and cash forecasting
  • Various ad hoc requests, reports, and projects as assigned

Pay range is commensurate with education, experience, specialized skills or certifications, etc.

$66,328$74,131 USD
