Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of IT Infrastructure to lead and oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure at Gather Health. This role requires an experienced leader who can support a rapidly growing healthcare organization by implementing scalable, secure solutions while addressing the challenges of serving at-risk patient populations. The Director of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and privacy of all technology systems, working across functional teams, overseeing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with healthcare-specific regulations such as HIPAA and HITECH.
Duties- Infrastructure Management
- Lead the management, monitoring, and optimization of IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, cloud services, and telecommunications.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of secure, high-performing local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN).
- Ensure the scalability and reliability of infrastructure to support clinical operations across multiple locations.
- Security and Privacy:
- Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect sensitive patient data in compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
- Manage cybersecurity strategies to mitigate risks, including data breaches, ransomware, and other threats.
- Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning, ensuring business continuity in case of IT system failures or security incidents.
- Procurement and Vendor Management:
- Manage procurement of hardware, software, and IT services, negotiating contracts and managing relationships with third-party vendors.
- Oversee the lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
- Evaluate and select vendors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery aligned with organizational goals.
- Connectivity and Support:
- Ensure all primary care sites maintain reliable connectivity and network infrastructure, including wireless access, VPNs, and remote access solutions.
- Manage IT support teams providing Tier 1 and 2 support to onsite and remote staff.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant healthcare laws.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all IT systems, policies, and procedures to support audits and accreditation processes.
Background- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Experience supporting IT infrastructure in primary care or other healthcare environments, particularly those serving at-risk populations
- Extensive experience managing IT security and privacy in compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
- Strong knowledge of network architecture, cloud services, virtualization technologies, and disaster recovery planning.
- Proven track record in hardware/software procurement and vendor management.
- Experience leading IT teams in a multi-location environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technologies.
- Understanding of federal and state regulations impacting IT operations in healthcare.
