We are seeking a Quality Assurance Site Associate, Welding to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico with hybrid flexibility.
Responsibilities
Review and prepare procurement documentation germane to quality assurance, quality engineering, and quality control requirements.
Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications contributing to the overall objective of sustaining an effective engineering, procurement, and program Quality Management System.
Perform onsite NCR investigations and verifications.
Coordinate and/or conduct audits and surveillances of quality-affecting engineering, procurement, construction, and ancillary project work.
Perform subcontractor oversight using knowledge of welding trades, QA/QC field oversight related to welding, and affirm requirements for purchasing in line with QA standards.
Work will be through a Subcontractor Site as a LANL Representative at a vessel construction subcontractor’s facility in either the Midwest or Northeast.
Domestic, short-term travel may be required.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, quality assurance, or a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
Must have 3+ years of experience as a Certified Welding Inspector - American Welding Society (AWS-CWI).
Must have current certification or previous certifications in three or more of the following NDE Level II Inspection (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT), Piping or Pressure Vessel Inspection, Mechanical Inspections.
Must have knowledge and application of nuclear codes and standards: 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, national consensus standard ASME NQA-1—2008/ASME NQA-1a-2009 Addenda to ASME NQA-1 – 2008, ISO 9001, and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent.
Must have knowledge of the application of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code for the procurement, fabrication, inspection, testing and In-Service inspection & evaluation of Pressure Vessels and Piping.
Must have experience participating in and supporting quality assessments, surveillances, audits and/or Non-Conformance disposition and closure.
Must be able to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schematics.
Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel across multiple organizations to solve complex problems.
Must have application experience to comprehend specified requirements in disciplines that include welding, nondestructive testing, geometric dimensioning, and tolerance.
Must have knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction practices sufficient to comprehend specified requirements in disciplines that include Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and application of the graded approach in an NQA-1 environment.
