Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software maintenance, implementation techniques. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, servers, PCs, printers etc. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives. Contributes to completion of specific programs tasks, and projects. Works under very general direction. Independently determines and develops approach for complex problem solving. Work is/may be reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Frequent inter-organizational and outside contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Participate in briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.Education and/or Certifications:Required:• Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in communication or a related field of study and 5 years related technical experience in Network and Transport technologies, tools, and techniques.• 5+ years’ experience with large-scale enterprise/global networks in a high paced diverse environment• Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential network issues.• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical staff and coordinate effectively across teams.Desired:• Cisco Certified CCNA, CCNP, CCDP (or equivalent).Required Skills:• Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (e.g. DNS, FTP, SSH, ACL, VLAN, DMZ, BGP), general networking technologies, network architecture and connectivity troubleshooting• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to ensure continuous network performance.• Oversee daily monitoring and maintenance of network performance, using network management tools to detect, mitigate, and resolve issues proactively.• Implement and enforce network security measures, such as firewalls, IPS/IDS systems, and access controls, in alignment with company security policies and industry best practices.• Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, topologies, and procedures. Prepare and present reports on network performance, incidents, and changes to stakeholders.• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network technicians, fostering skill development and ensuring knowledge transfer within the team.• Lead or support network-related projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions on time and within scope.• Familiarity with cloud-based networking (AWS, Azure, etc.) and hybrid network architectures.• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and professionally with non-technical staff• Background in project management and experience leading multi-phase network projects• Thoroughly understand VPN Technologies (IPSEC, DMVPN, S2S, L3VPN, VPLS)• Thoroughly understand the following routing protocols: EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP• Thoroughly understand how to install and implement Cisco WAN/LAN routers/switches in small, medium and enterprise environments: Ex. ASRs, ISRs, Catalysts, NXOS, Nexus• Ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed• Ability to work independently with little direction and guidance• Thorough experience performing packet capture analysis or running Wireshark is highly desirable.• Review and/or approve Network engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet Network needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete• Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating Network integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces• Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format, and store interface data in a commonly accessible repositoryDesired Skills:• Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission• Knowledge and familiarity with USCENTCOM’s IT environment• Troubleshooting Cisco ACI-based networks.• Manage and support the Cisco ISE solution across the organization• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ISE with other network componentsClearance Requirement:• Active TS/SCITravel Requirements:• Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% Travel during the Year to OCONUS LocationsThe likely salary range for this position is $97,750 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
