General Laborer

Novelis (formally known as Aleris) in Uhrichsville has immediate openings for experienced General Laborers to support our 24/7 aluminum rolling operations.

The successful candidates must be fully committed to engaging in safe working practices, driven to learn new processes and procedures, and have the ability to work as part of a team to achieve safety, quality and performance goals.

• The rate of pay starts at $21.27 per hour with a raise after a 60 days worked probation.
• By participating in our Skill Based Pay system, employees can earn up to $30.50 an hour.
• The successful candidates will become members of the United Steel Workers of America (USW) and must pay dues accordingly.
• This position will work a rotating swing shift: 12 hours per day, three days in a row, then three days off; rotate between day and night shift every two weeks.
• A full range of benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) with company match, etc.) is available the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

• Work in a safe manner in compliance with all safety and environmental requirements, policies, and regulatory statutes.
• Operate a variety of mobile equipment including, but not limited to; forklift, skid steer, overhead crane.
• Coordinate and carry out various tasks as assigned by management.
• Perform repetitive tasks and assist others to provide an organized and clean workplace including assigned areas of the plant, workstations, equipment, walkways and locker rooms.
• Notify appropriate personnel of irregularities in operating equipment or materials; maintain clean and orderly conditions in work area.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Be able to safely work alone or as part of a team; capable of self-direction.
• Basic computer and math skills are required.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen
• Ability to work as scheduled (including overtime, weekends and holidays) to support our 24/7 operations
• Must have basic knowledge of hand tools and possess a mechanical aptitude.
• Must be flexible as job focus and assignments may change daily and by the hour.
