Senior Data Analyst, Finance

We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, passionate about data, organized, and detail oriented. This person will be the first hire at Generate specifically dedicated to this function, and will help shape the future of how we derive and deliver insight and meaning from our data to accelerate the growth and success of our business. This Data Analyst will help ensure our Finance functions... are providing accurate reporting on the business and making data driven decisions by evangelizing and supporting the use of data across the organization. This person is passionate about deploying sustainable infrastructure and furthering the climate transition, and is looking to apply their experience to build a data-driven culture and scale our organization. This person will work as a member of the Data and Technology group to ensure they are well connected to our team’s efforts, and will partner closely with FP&A and other Finance groups to help them accomplish their objectives and KPIs using data. What you will be doing at Generate Capital as a Senior Data Analyst: • Partner with FP&A and other Finance groups to understand and meet their data and reporting needs • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial and portfolio data • Design, create, and maintain key financial and portfolio reports in PowerBI, Tableau, and/or Sigma • Complete ad-hoc analyses using SQL and Snowflake on behalf of our business partners • Identify trends and patterns in complex data sets • Support and train business partners in use of PowerBI, Snowflake, etc. to answer questions • Manage projects to improve data use and quality, including cross-functional data governance initiatives • Make new product design and process improvement recommendations to Product and Data Engineering team to improve how data is stored, used, and communicated across the organization Candidate qualifications & core characteristics: • A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission • Bachelor's degree in an analytical field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, etc.) preferred; equivalent years of relevant work experience and/or education will be considered • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience at least one enterprise BI tool, e.g., Power BI, Tableau and SQL • Ability to translate business questions into reporting and answers • Data quality mindset that validates outputs against common-sense mentality and technical requirements • Experience with and/or knowledge of corporate finance concepts, including financial statements, accounting, and forecasting • Strong analytical and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail • Healthy skepticism and proven ability to analyze, document, and drive continuous process improvements • Strategic thinker with a keen ability to identify opportunities to influence and improve workflows or decision making using data • Team player and natural collaborator with excellent verbal and written communication skills • Unimpeachable integrity and glowing references • High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges • Intellectual agility, curiosity, and creativity; problem-solving is your default mode • Entrepreneurial spirit: flexibility, comfort with risk, recognition that “perfect can be the enemy of the good” Generate’s compensation packages are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Salary decisions take into account a wide variety of factors including, but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $135,000. In addition, the compensation package may include a discretionary bonus and other benefits, including health care benefits, retirement benefits, benefits permitting paid days off (including sick leave, parental leave, and paid time off or vacation benefits), and other benefits that must be reported for federal tax purposes. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of this range.
