Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning.

AECOM is seeking a GIS Intern to be based in Baltimore, MD.

This position is expected to begin in August 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Produce high quality, cartographically sound maps, graphics and figures
• Create, manage, edit and maintain various types of GIS data, including spatial databases
• Collect and manage field and survey data using mobile GPS equipment
• Transfer data to/from GPS devices and post-process using differential correction
• Perform QA/QC review of GIS data and compile metadata
• Digitize, scan and georeferenced maps, engineering drawings and imagery
• Automate mapping and geoprocessing tasks using Esri Model Builder and Python
• Ability to work in both office and field settings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Environmental Science or related field.
• Must have completed 2 years of study in the applicable program
• Must have a valid driver’s license with good standing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ArcGIS Software including ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online; experience with field data collection and post processing using Survey123 or ESRI Field Maps.
