GAI Consultants is seeking a GIS Specialist to be connected to any of our office locations as this opportunity can be done remotely. A successful candidate will provide GIS support to a variety of energy sectors through the development of maps, databases, and spatial analyses. The GIS Specialist will be expected to work in the Esri software platform and become knowledgeable in the core environmental services that GAI offers its clients, such as cultural resources (archaeological and architectural) surveys, wetland and stream surveys, and state and federal permitting support. Esri and project-specific training will be provided by GAI GIS staff as needed.
Job Duties:
- A successful candidate will provide GIS support to a variety of energy sectors through the development of maps, databases, and spatial analyses.
- The GIS Specialist will be expected to work in the Esri software platform and be knowledgeable in the core environmental services that GAI offers its clients, such as wetland and stream delineation, state and federal permitting, and sensitive species surveys.
- Works directly with Supervisor to maintain controls on budgets, scopes, and schedules for specified technical (GIS) tasks.
- Assists with publishing, developing, and managing Enterprise GIS content, such as feature services, web maps/apps, and Enterprise (SDE) Geodatabases.
Education:
- BS or better in Environmental & Earth Science or related
- BS or better in Geography or related
Experience:
Required:
- Demonstrates fundamental knowledge and experience using the Esri products suite, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro with 3D Analyst & Spatial Analyst Extensions, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal), and other GIS software such as Google Earth Pro.
- Has experience publishing and managing feature services and using ArcGIS Online/Enterprise to develop and share web maps for use in Field Maps (Collector), Web AppBuilder, etc.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and is naturally motivated, focused, hard-working, and eager to learn.
- Ability to work in a team environment and assist with cross-training as needed.
- Possesses an attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
Preferred:
- 1-2 years' experience through internships or professional jobs strongly preferred.
- Experience working in the renewable energy sector preferred.
- Basic python programming skills a plus.
- Experience in developing, publishing, and managing forms and surveys using Survey123 for ArcGIS a plus.
