This role will focus on enterprise B2B marketing and requires the ability to think high-level and long-term while also creating content that tells interesting and engaging stories, and drives the desired results. Knowledge of the software development industry is strongly preferred.This person will join the Brand and Content Marketing team, working cross-functionally with teams like Integrated Demand, Digital, Product Marketing, Design, and Developer Relations. The best candidates will be great writers, curious individuals, empathetic, and know how to ask the right questions. An understanding of and first-hand experience with developers’ challenges and B2B marketing is a bonus.The team’s work is highly visible, so candidates should be comfortable working with cross-functional stakeholders, executives, and senior leadership. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, high levels of compassion for colleagues and the developer community, and eagle-eyed editing skills are required—as is the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.Bonus: Knowledge of the software development industry and experience writing for the developer community as well as IT decision makers.Responsibilities• Partner with campaign managers and subject matter experts to bring product solutions to life, test new and creative content approaches to connect with the community and customers, and infuse everything with the GitHub voice along the way• Advise stakeholders on content distribution and production strategies• Write and edit content for GitHub web properties including headlines, body copy, and long-form web content• Implement SEO strategies into site content• Work with project managers, campaign managers, site, and creative teams to meet deadlines• Apply data-driven learnings to iterate and improve• Manage multiple projects simultaneously• Explain highly technical, complex concepts and features succinctly and in a way that deeply resonates with GitHub’s audiences• Brainstorm, workshop, and ideate pitches and articles• Ghost write for executives and internal influencers• Conduct interviews and partner with subject matter experts to create compelling narratives• Work data and research into articles and contentQualificationsRequired Qualifications:• 5+ years experience in editorial, journalism, content strategy, or writing roles for technical audiences• 3+ years of experience with technical business-to-business content development with both short- and long-form writing• 2+ years experience working at a technology company (e.g., software development, technical documentation/writing) or in a related technology field.• 1+ years experience with marketing and campaign execution.Preferred Qualifications:• Able to talk through a portfolio of past content and campaign work that shows versatility and creativity• At least one year leading cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders or establishing processes in cross-functional projects.• Knowledge of the software development industry and experience writing for the developer community as well as IT decision makers.• Experience creating social content, scripting videos, and working on campaignCompensation RangeThe base salary range for this job is USD $58,800.00 - USD $156,000.00 /Yr.These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role.
