Position Summary:

The Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for ensuring institutional funders are inspired by GLIDE’s mission and vision and are actively engaged in funding the advancement of GLIDE’s goals. Under the direction of the Senior Director, Institutional Partnerships, this person strengthens the Institutional Giving Program by stewarding a portfolio of government, corporate and foundation funders, diversifying giving prospects through prospect research and cultivation, creating strategic and targeted proposals, letters of inquiry and reports to support programmatic and unrestricted funding.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under the direction of the Senior Director, Institutional Partnerships, help develop annual strategy, plan and implement GLIDE’s institutional giving program, and manage donor activities.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with an assigned portfolio of institutional funders to increase likelihood of obtaining and maintaining funding, including developing and implementing donor stewardship and cultivation strategies and activities.


Portfolio Management and Prospecting
  • Develop and own a growing portfolio of government, foundation and corporate funders to support the organization’s planned growth year over year.
  • Conduct research to identify new funding sources and stay informed about trends and changes in the institutional giving landscape.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with institutional donors, including regular communication, cultivation, and stewardship activities.
  • Work with the development, events, and volunteer teams to ensure that all institutional giving activities are integrated with other fundraising and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure that grant proposals and reports accurately reflect the organization's programs and services.
  • Develop foundation donor and prospect briefings to support GLIDE Leadership and Board Members in approaching, developing, and maintaining key institutional funding relationships.
  • Oversee all records related to funded grants in the assigned portfolio and maintenance of a detailed grants calendar in Salesforce.


Project Management
  • Project management of multiple grant applications, corporate and foundation giving cycles, proposal and reporting dates, and report requirements.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure that grant proposals and reports accurately reflect the organization's programs and services.


Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree and 3+ years experience in institutional giving, cultivation and solicitation, preferably in social services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Outstanding verbal, interpersonal and presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Proven writing and editing skills marked by clear and compelling communication of key points. Has proven success in writing requests for funding.
  • Outstanding stewardship and relationship management skills with meticulous follow-through.
  • Has record of building donor relationships with a proven track record of maintaining effective relationships with institutional funders.
  • Knowledge of Bay Area and national institutional funders that emphasize giving preferences aligned with GLIDE’s work. Experience developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Excellent creative writing and editing skills; the ability to develop successful grant proposals and reports
  • Ability to synthesize complex material, to translate it into readable and engaging prose, and to communicate it clearly and succinctly.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office suite. Facility with Excel to format program budgets for funders and design diagrams and charts that demonstrate performance results.
  • Proficiency with donor management software and generating ongoing reports. Experience with Salesforce highly preferred.


$85,000 - $95,000 a year
This role is covered by the collective bargaining agreement.

Work Environment: 

· GLIDE’s buildings are located in the Tenderloin neighborhood.
