About the job:

Passionate people are everywhere at Google. In Developer Relations, we get excited to collaborate and connect with the communities that love technology as much as we do. Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

Android Developer Relations team mission is to drive Android ecosystem success by making it easier and more valuable for developers to build high quality, responsible apps across devices.

Android Developer Relations creates guidance that makes it easier for Android developers to be successful with Android and Google technologies, and we work with Google product and engineering teams to build better products for developers. By helping developers build better products with technology, we enable amazing user experiences on the Android platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand how the community is using Compose and other Jetpack libraries and what bottlenecks are slowing down developers’ work, elevate these issues to appropriate stakeholders and drive resolution on them.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to provide feedback on APIs/libraries, influence the product roadmap, and craft the most relevant narrative for how developers can maximize their return on investment when building for Android.
  • Work with developers and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities and land changes in tooling, libraries, and guidance that will boost productivity when building, debugging, testing, and releasing Android apps.
  • Create scalable developer resources (blog posts, sample code, codelabs), and opinionated guidance on how developers can more effectively leverage Jetpack libraries.
  • Capture compelling case studies of how development teams were able to maximize developer productivity to establish best practices.
