Principal Engineer, AI Developer Platform

Minimum qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.• 15 years of experience in software development.• 5 years of experience in driving technical collaboration across multiple teams and organizations.Preferred qualifications:• Experience in ML/AI technologies and Generative AI.• Experience with enterprise programs, cloud technologies, and highly scalable platforms.• Ability to build outlook and drive technical roadmap and design with a broader engineering organization.• Ability to be an empathetic customer advocate with a responsible and ethical point of view on AI.About The JobWithin the Cloud AI Organization, we focus on building highly differentiated, highly scalable, and easy-to-use machine learning products and services that enable our customers to transform their business with AI. We not only provide customers with state-of-the-art ML models but also full ML model building/serving toolsets (i.e. MLOps) and management workflows to enable customers to turn ideas into high-quality production AI solutions across verticals.As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for designing the roadmap for the AI Developer Platform, ensuring its technical excellence and alignment with the evolving needs of our developer community. You will be the technical and product thought partner to the AI Developer Platform leadership, shaping the future direction of this critical component of Google Cloud AI.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. Learn more about benefits at Google .Responsibilities• Define the technical roadmap for the AI Developer Platform, encompassing existing and future-facing products and services.• Lead the technical direction in Generative AI, collaborating closely with Google DeepMind and Research teams to design algorithms tailored for enterprise needs. This includes focusing on fine-tuning, algorithmic understanding of plug-ins, and use-case/vertical-based models (e.g., medical, music, finance).• Help define the technical and product direction for projects spanning multiple organizations within and outside the AI Developer Platform.• Act as a senior reviewer or go-to person for large-scale changes or technical decision-making, participate in calibration and promotion feedback, and develop/drive appropriate decision-making and technical review processes.• Partner closely with Google Research and DeepMind to drive AI innovations and bring state-of-the-art technologies to the Platform.Google is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
